Salvador Dali: The Argillet Collection is a magnificent artwork collection, as well as a unique and immersive fine art experience, and Michael Murphy Gallery is honored to present a world-class museum-provenanced exhibition. The gallery welcomes all: interior designers, art lovers, collectors of Dali's works and our new & present valued patrons and guests: as all will have the opportunity to interact with the artwork, the rare Aubusson tapestries and the world-renowned Dali etchings that are an unparalleled intimate connection to the artist himself. These works will grace any environment and are truly magnificent works of art.
The exhibition is also the opportunity to meet Madame Christine Argillet, daughter of Dali's legendary publisher and confidante Pierre Argillet, and the distinguished curator of the collection. Madame Argillet will take guests of the gallery on a story-filled journey from her childhood spent with Dali, filled with intimate and anecdotal tales of a collaboration and friendship that spanned five decades; and produced what art historians have termed "the finest bodies of the master's art." This collection made available by the Argillet estate is truly a privilege and an opportunity for the collector to own a prominent piece of Dali's legacy.
Salvador Dali's open-mindedness and innate ability to embrace a plethora of topics and themes can also be seen in his etchings and drawings, which address different topics, from religion to eroticism. Pierre Argillet's daughter, Christine Argillet, spent much of her childhood in the presence of Salvador Dali, and experienced his receptivity and broad-mindedness first-hand. Her presence in Tampa in the venerable Michael Murphy Gallery the closing week of this exhibition will provide invaluable insights into the collaboration between her father and Dali.
